First time here with people who had. We ordered chicken fried steak, chicken salad sandwich and an offering of the lighter side (half sandwich and side of soup) Albuquerque Turkey with soup (cream of chicken with Green Chile). We had a wonderful server named Madison who did a great job. Everything was delicious.
The cream of chicken soup was excellent with lots of chicken and Green Chile. The Chicken Fried Steak was good. The cream gravy was delicious!
The chicken salad was creamy with lots of flavor.
We will be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - William P.Albuquerque, NM137417Oct 27, 2020
Because it is what it is! This place is one of the best comfort food restaurants in Albuquerque for sure. It is a snowy and cold day today and I needed comfort. The chicken fried chicken with gravy supplied it in spades.

I was first introduced to Christy Mae's Restaurant about twenty years ago. I had a nice hometown feeling where you could have a nice lunch with friends. It's not on my normal beat and path so I don't always get to go. Recently my sister in law and I were trying to think of somewhere different to have lunch. She had never been there and we were far. It was her first time and she loved it! I have always enjoyed their fresh ingredients and friendly service. Our waitress was spunky and went out of her way to make our lunch enjoyable. It still has that small hometown feel even it's surrounded by other business and a very traveled road. My favorite thing is they use real avocado not that processed stuff.

Wanted to try this place after reading good reviews. Im a pot pie lover, so I had to try it. It was very good, very homemade looking. Not too salty. Just right. I always love a pot pie's crust, and this one was great. I could always use more, but there was enough to spread among my bites. Came with cornbread or banana bread (?). Yes, really. Cornbread was an easy choice, even though I love banana bread. It was good - very thick and fluffy. It also came with a couple pieces of fresh fruit. A bit odd but very tasty.
All in all, very good. I'll be back to try other dishes! Recommended.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - David C.Albuquerque, NM103651983Apr 20, 2017Updated review
There is always a kind smile and friendly face here. I dined here on a Wednesday and it was busy, but didn't impact the wait for a table. The atmosphere is very inviting and warm. Like having lunch at my grandmas house. So many new restaurant have such a cold 'modern' feel to them it's easy in the eyes to dine in a classic-styled restaurant with a rich history here in Albuquerque.
I had the signature chicken pot pie-I believe "Nellies Chicken pot pie"-with water and a Dr. Pepper. It came with a wedge of pineapple a piece of cornbread with honey butter and I had some green chile chicken soup to start. All was prepared properly and delicious, nothing cold or undercooked. The pot pie has a delicious buttery crust and breaking that has kept me coming back for more than a year.
I didn't choose the special this visit, but I've had the pulled pork and coleslaw and it is divine. Their specials change sometimes daily, so there is always something new to try. My favorite and I'd love to know when they would bring it back is a hamburger on two thick slices of bread. I believe it was called the 'Lonestar', I may be wrong.
There's something here and I hope you find it like I did, classic taste combined with classic sensibility in design.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Apr 9, 2017Previous reviewI had the special. Fish on Friday with a Dr Pepper. Well made, batter was tasty as was the fish. It came with coleslaw and some chips. I had a great time and left feeling full and that my meal hit the spot.
Mar 12, 2017Previous reviewThe food was great but I only received one refill which was put in a to go cup which I found incredibly rude. I won't stop coming. I just didn't like how I was treated.
Feb 28, 2017Previous reviewThe pics I've posted should say enough. But allow me to try with words. The green chile chicken pot pie was just amazing. Crispy breading on the top with savory chicken and bits of chile inside. To enjoy with it is the spiced iced tea. So good.

I ate at this establishment for a few times now. The first I came to this restaurant, I ordered a chicken sandwich I believe. It was okay. There was nothing special or memorable about it. That being said, many people told me that I should order the green chiles soup. I haven't had a chance to order that because I was hooked to their German chocolate cake.
The German chocolate cake here is by far better than other places. This is a three tier cake with cream cheese frosting on top. The cake itself was moisted and very chocolaty. The cream cheese frosting between tiers is not too sweet. The frosting also contains pieces of pecans and coconut flakes. They complement the cake well. This is also a generous serving. If you do not have a sweet tooth, maybe you can order one to share.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sarah R.Downtown, Albuquerque, NM183139209Jul 15, 2018
This place had the best value kids meals (with purchase of a adult meal). For $1.99 kids get a drink, choice of the regular (burger, chicken, Mac n'cheese, PB n'J, etc) and a side. What impressed me most was the generous side serving. My son ordered a side of fruit, mist place you get a little fruit bowl, not here he got a whole bunch of grapes, two wedges of melon, star berries, a pineapple triangle- it was amazing!
My daughter had banana bread as her side - she got 4 slices (probably equivalent to two slices of toast) and was in heaven.
The rest of the food was good too. Great service and a steady stream of traffic.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
