Moving from NJ to NM, I was completely apprehensive to try anything Italian... and boy was I shocked by this hidden gem!
Absolutely delicious! We tried a little of everything and were completely impressed by the taste, service and experience this evening at Joe's Pasta House.
We tried the green chili chicken ravioli which isn't a typical Italian dish and it was AMAZING!
Had a very quaint, family vibe and just loved it here! We went on a Friday night and only had a 15-20 minute wait, zero wait at the bar so we ate there! And loved it!
Fresh bread served upon being seated with oil and spices and bruschetta! Loved this touch.
Can't wait to try the rest of the menu! They even made a homemade cocktail every week that I was given a taste of... and was to die for! Sooo yummy! My new italian spot in NM!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 30, 2024
Joe's Pasta House is becoming a favorite place of mine. The restaurant is a bit of a distance from where I live, but more and more I'm discovering that it is worth the drive. The ambiance is very nice and the food is better. During COVID, the owner gave Yelpers a cooking lesson through Zoom on making bruschetta. It is still a favorite recipe of mine. I was totally going to order it as an appetizer at Joe's. Then, it turned out that they served complimentary little bowls of bruschetta and olive oil along with fresh bread before your meal. Very nice and a great way to start the meal. I had checked out the menu before going and decided to order the Pinon Pesto Salmon which was served on top of angel hair pasta with pine nut pesto sauce. I quite enjoyed it. One person in our party ordered from the Senior menu for ages 60 and over. He had the lasagne and really liked it too. Included in the price of the dishes on the senior menu were a salad and iced tea or coffee. Since the side salads with other meals cost $3.95, the senior menu was a very good bargain. One more thing to add is that the server was nice and attentive.
The only thing I would change would be having the restaurant stay open a little longer. When we went, we didn't realize that they close at 7pm on Sundays. We waited about 10 minutes for a table and were seated close to 6:30. They didn't rush us but as we were the last table to finish, we rushed ourselves.
Lastly, just a personal preference...I like the bruschetta on toasted bread so next time I'm there I'll probably order a side of garlic bread.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Feb 3, 2024Updated review4 check-ins
I took my granddaughters here last night because they both love Joe's spaghetti and meatballs. One likes her meatballs on the side and our server David accommodated us. We had their wonderful warm bread with olive oil and tomato bruschetta and added some gooey, cheesy garlic bread. ($8 more for this! A bit pricey for bread!) I had their Senior lasagna meal with a side salad. The lasagne was piping hot, and cheesy goodness. The salad was disappointing. Just some mixed greens, 3 slices of limp cucumber and 3 cherry tomatoes. The Italian dressing was okay, but I have had better. I took most of their spaghetti home, as one wanted an adult size and her eyes were bigger than her stomach. I tried to convince them to get some cheesecake to share, but they were not interested today. One had peach lemonade and the other had pineapple lemonade. They were happy with these interesting fruit combinations.
I am glad we went after school, as the place was pretty full already and there was a long wait of families when we left.
They always enjoy checking out the koi and fish in the mini pond out front. You need to make the pond bigger to accommodate the large fish. They have no place to swim around.
The meal was filling and good, but not quite as good as with the prior owners. There was no warmth with the front staff as before. It felt more like an assembly line.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

We're so glad you had a great experience with us, Laura. Our servers do a great job making sure you are getting everything you could need during your meal. We really appreciate you writing this review about your experiences here, and we're looking forward to seeing you again soon.
Jun 18, 2022Previous reviewFaith is our usual waitress and she is wonderful. There were 2 huge parties and she kept advising us that our meals would be delayed, as they got those orders out of the kitchen. The meatball and tortellini soup is aways great with freshly wilted spinach. The mozzarella sticks with marinara were great. I enjoyed the eggplant parmigiana with angel hair. Another had chicken Marsala. The kids gobbled down their spaghetti and then had their ice creams for dessert. It was a crazy busy time, and we appreciated the updates. The kids kept busy with extra bread!
Jul 10, 2020Previous reviewBopped in for lunch today. They are shutting down indoor dining again on Monday. Bummer! Thanks Governor. We both enjoyed the warm Italian bread and butter and the eggplant parmigiana with angel hair spaghetti. The sauce was thick and flavorful. Yum. The tortellini soup with fresh spinach and meatballs was flavorful too.
I hope this shut down thing, part 2 is over soon, so we can have some normalcy. I sure feel bad for all the restaurants trying to stay afloat. So, go eat at Joe's or get take out!Aug 25, 2019Previous reviewWe have been here twice in the past and decided that maybe three times was the lucky charm. We started the meal with the complimentary bread, oil and bruschetta. It was delicious. The different salads that we each had were genuinely potions and the Italian dressing was good. You cannot go wrong then with adding your own olive oil and vinegar to taste. The kids enjoyed their spaghetti and meatballs. My daughter enjoyed the linguine with shrimp in a scampi sauce. I had the Senior lasagne, which included the salad in the price. It filled the oval bowl with lots of sauce, but the lasagna was really light on other ingredients. Hardly any ground beef, and no hint of any sausage, as started on the menu. Usually lasagna has several layers and is taller. I am guessing it was an inch and a quarter tall, not tall and full of noodles, cheeses, and meats, as one would expect, but it was tasty.
Our server, Tony, was wonderful, and tended to us well, even during the long wait to get our foods out from the kitchen. The bread was refilled, and our glasses topped off.
Maybe 3 times was not the charm, but better than before. - Hannah S.Benicia, CA0206May 10, 2024
The music was so loud it was hard to have a conversation with our friends without screaming. The food was really sub par unfortunately. Very bland and just sort of bleh. Nothing really tasted fresh ie the sauces or the bread. Could've made it better at home. Our waitress was very nice and the service was great.

Food was good. I ordered the lobster ravioli and it was delicious. My wife ordered the chicken Mediterranean pasta. She enjoyed it but it was definitely less impressive than mine. The service was fine and we got lucky to be seated in the back room by the fireplace so it was more a more pleasant setting than the main dining room.

Probably the best lasagna I've had. Great service, looking forward to trying the other dishes on the menu

I heard good things about Joe's Pasta House from others and my friend and I happened to be right by it yesterday, so we gave it a try.
It was my first time eating here and it was EXCELLENT! The restaurant was clean and had a homey feel. Our server was attentive without being intrusive and kept our glasses full.
The food! So good! Neither of us knew how big the portions were. We ordered fried zucchini, steamed mussels and the Greek salad. Each appetizer could have fed four people. My steamed mussels were cooked perfectly. It was the best steamed mussels I've had in NM so far. Our server told us the mussels are delivered every Thursday and is on the menu for dinner on Fridays. They usually sell out, but I was lucky they had some left on Saturday.
The Greek salad was so fresh and not a single piece of limp or slimy lettuce. It was full of cucumbers, olives, artichoke hearts, etc. I was surprised at the very high quality of ingredients.
We obviously couldn't finish it all and our server boxed it all for us. I wish I'd gotten her name.
I can't wait to come back and try some of their pasta dishes.Helpful 3Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 1 - Aug 7, 2023
I don't venture much to Rio Rancho, but our little social crew decided to go for dinner and a show, and we choose pasta for din din.
Got there a little early because we knew it was going to get busy, even so, we didn't wait long.
Our waiter was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Even though they were busy, we never felt rushed or hurried.
Hubby had eggplant parmigiana and loved every bite, I had the scampenelli and enjoyed every morsel .
You could tell the pasta was fresh and that some love and care was put into every dish!
Our waiter did do his best to tempt us with a dessert?, and believe me, if we hadn't been going to a show, we would have!
For authenticity and Italian cuisine on the west side, you don't have to look any further than Joes!Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jan 19, 2023
We had the Shrimp Scampinelle and baked ziti. $39.
One of the best things about Joe's Pasta House is the fresh bread and bruschetta they serve before the meal. We've searched far and wide but there is no equal to the bruschetta. Somehow Joe found the perfect balance.
The shrimp Scampinelle was one of the best we have ever had. And, so was the baked Ziti. As you can see the serving size is quite humongous. Maybe they should give you a t-shirt if you can finish it.
Today everything was really great but what stood out even more than the fine food was our waitress. I can't remember the last time someone put that level of detail and effort into serving. It sure made us feel like we were having more than a meal.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0
